My first Chief in the Navy was very similar to Coach Knight: no-nonsense, gruff, sometimes a jerk. However, many years later, it's easy to look back and realize he was just trying to take this punk kid and turn him into a responsible, productive member of society. I personally put Coach Knight into that same category.
